For this short, I conducted interviews with recipients of the Diversity Lottery who came from Ethiopia to New York City. Unlike earlier immigration policies requiring applicants to have certain privileges, the lottery allowed a broader demographic to immigrate. Paralleling their experiences with the marine life of the city, this work is a meditation on the migratory experience.
