Performance video projected into a balloon
The performance video titled "Hap" reflects issues of stereotyped identity and race. A puppet like tribal figure is framed within a rectangle (artificial definition) and trapped in a yellow balloon. He continues to struggle to get out of the frame. The figure is presented in a theatrical stage setting as if he is an entertainer. The figure is mythicized and ananoumous. Since it is a projected identity, the video is projected into a yellow balloon. The balloon refers to entertainment and its color refres to a banana. It is a time based instlation, eventually the balloon will explode by the heat of the video projector, creating a sense of liberation. |
